I made less money in 2006 and had bigger tax return. This past year my business made more money but I also had more expenses then what I made so why is it that my tax return is so much less then what I received back for my 2006 return? Please help me understand…thanks.

I am considering going back to grad school this fall. I **** the thought of going into debt, and am considering cashing in my 401k for educational expenses. I was wondering how much I would get if I were to cash it in.

My 401K has around 12,300 in it at this time
My income last year was 38,000 (info for tax bracket reasons(
I live in PA..
Anyone have a rough estimate? Am I penalized if I use it for educational expenses?

I started a new e-commerce business in 2007 outside the US. However it is not generating any income yet and there were significant costs including inventory associated with it. Can I deduct my expenses from this business from the taxable income I earned in the US from another job? If yes, what additional documentation and forms do I need to present to the IRS. Are there special rules surrounding this that I should be aware of?

My friend is a single mother. The baby’s father is the true definition of dead beat dad. He tries to skip out on paying his child support and even tried lying to the agency about where he works so that he wouldn’t have to pay it. He works for a dance company and gets paid a lot in cash for teaching dance classes. He is dating one of the owners of the dance company so we think that he is convincing her to not take the child support out of his paycheck. The only time my friend actually gets a check is when she calls and makes several complaints to the child support agency which takes a lot of time and effort. How can she get her well-deserved child support money without hiring a lawyer or incurring a lot of expenses?
I want to clarify something. He already has a wage garnish order in place, but the employer is not complying with it. We think it has to do with the fact that he is dating the owner of the company and is convincing her to not take the garnished wages out.
