Is this a Corporation only benefit or can an LLC write off business related expenses as well such as office supplies, office work space rent, internet access for business, lunch meetings, travel, company car, and other business related expenses? I keep reading and it appears it is corporation only, but I’m not sure… Can someone please feel me in on this… I’m having trouble finding info in books.
Thanks, I’m just new to all of this business “jargon”. Trying to learn more about how the world works. Thanks

I’m having trouble handling the business end of my business, because I have no business management and not very much computer knowledge to do spread sheets, etc. I’m thinking of taking business courses thru email from Tulane U. How can I get help to pay for my courses and can I deduct this cost on my taxes?

I worked as a nanny for 7 weeks in March/April of 2008.
I just added up all of my wages and it totalled $1,700.
Do I need to call my past employer and have them send me a W-2?
Also, someone told me I can write off expenses I had to pay out-of-pocket, like for transportation, since I drove the kids to and from school everyday.
oh and none of the taxes were withheld from my paycheck.

I worked as an employee from Jan-Sept with a company in 2006. I left this company in September to open my own business. I spent thousands of dollars towards opening my store, which I was supposed to open on December 5, 2006. Due to some major issues with my General Contractor, I was unable to open my store in 2006. I still have not opened it. I have had my store location leased since October, 2006.
My question is this…
Since I did not receive a single dollar in sales from my store in 2006, do I claim all of my expenses towards it anyway (we’re talking about in excess of $75,000), or do I just file my income from the job I had from Jan-Sep, and claim my business expenses on my 2007 taxes since I will be open that year?
Please advise if you know how I should handle this. Thanks.
